Canton Ticino is one of the main tourist destinations in Switzerland also thanks to its natural beauty: in just a few kilometres the landscape changes from hills to Alpine peaks, large subalpine lakes and mountain valleys.

The MOBSTER project has been inserted into an area where sustainable mobility can express its potential to the full and that has a long tradition of supporting electromobility. Ticino is an area that was at the forefront of electric mobility in Europe having hosted one of the first pilot projects (VEL-1 in Mendrisio, 1994-2001) and equipped itself with a network of public charging stations.

In the last few years their commitment to electromobility has resumed with the modernisation and expansion of the network of charging columns, the creation of routes for electric bicycles with charging points, a growing number of tourist facilities offering the possibility to charge cars and electric bicycles to their guests and the active commitment of Canton to subsidise the purchase of electric cars and charging stations.
